Wind projects involving THEOLIA and local players

The development, construction and management of a wind farm is a long term project.

Firstly, THEOLIA carries out feasibility studies for a wind farm on a selected site. Then the initial contracts with local authorities are drawn up. THEOLIA can then carry out environmental studies and initial viability studies on the site (wind capacity, fauna, noise effects, impacts on the landscape...)

Each stage requires transparency, ability to work with local interests and determination. The construction permit is filed and granted following a public enquiry. The construction work can then begin to develop the wind farm and generate the first kilowatts.

These projects can’t succeed without concerted support of local players: councillors, land owners, local residents, local interest groups…

It takes more than five years from the initial feasibility studies to the setting up of a wind farm on a particular site

A wind farm can be in place from 20 to 25 years. At the end of this time, either the turbines are replaced and upgraded or wind production is terminated and the site dismantled. In the latter case, there is a legal obligation to restore the site to its previous condition.
